The G-20 Has Landed
September 21st by Tim

Happy G-20 week! Come try some of our fabulous local products and introduce yourself to a taste of the Steel City. Our organic grass-fed frank, soda from the Natrona Bottling Company, and pierogies are a great place to start.

Franktuary is downtown, only blocks from the convention center. 325 Oliver Avenue, between Wood and Smithfield Streets. We’re open from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. 10:00 am to 3:00 pm tomorrow. Visitors most definitely welcome!

But don’t worry, Franktuary is still located in the heart of downtown on Oliver Avenue. We’ve got some exciting plans on the horizon, and part of that bigger picture necessitates creating space for someone who can do my old job better than me. What I mean by that is Franktuary now has on its staff not one but two individuals with culinary degrees! With this change, and for a handful of personal reasons, I find myself looking for employment back home in the New York area.

So, as you might imagine, more details will spring forth from this very space… over time. These titillating tidbits, about changes coming to Franktuary as well as the eventual success of my job search, may alter the very fabric of your life. If that doesn’t occur, I’ll settle for a positive impact on your stomach. After all, I expect you’ll find my yet-to-be-determined new occupation both succulent and delicious. Not to mention the food at Franktuary. You’ll find it most succulent and delicious also.

Well, as you wait for more mouthwatering morsels in the form of frankcentric blogging, come on downtown to try one of our already-improved pierogies. I know I’ll be back to visit regularly. If you’re reading this blog in Pittsburgh you have no excuse to visit Franktuary less frequently than someone more than 350 miles away! Okay, you got me, you’ve got to pay for parking in the Golden Triangle, but other than that…

In Pittsburgh
January 28th by Tim

Here’s a riddle for you!

How can one be in Pittsburgh, but out of Pittsburgh at the same time?

When Franktuary is out of pierogies (which hopefully won’t happen often), of course!

That’s right, Franktuary is pleased to announce the addition of “The Pittsburgh” to it’s family of franks. Come on down and give it a whirl! With luck, we won’t be out.

Pierogi Power
January 17th by Tim

Hello friend. Yesterday I had three meetings in the afternoon. That’s not supposed to happen when you own a hot dog shoppe.

It’s finally cold. It feels like winter. My fingers are numb when on my bike, and given the date, I’m somewhat relieved.

By the way, we’re now offering pierogies. If pierogies were popular anywhere in the United States other than Pittsburgh I think it would be just splendid to open a stand in New York’s South Street Seaport and call it “Pier 17 Pierogies.” I also think it would be mighty fine if Pier 1 Imports sold pierogies in all their stores, somewhere near the checkout.

But, alas, pierogies appear not to be very marketable outside of the Steel City. Of course, as a non-native of western PA I say “alas” more for the loss of opportunity to employ a cheesey play on words than for the opportunity to eat a cheesey pierogi in Manhattan. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not bad, I’ve just never been sure what all the fuss is about.

Cookies
November 2nd by Tim

If you haven’t visited Hot Franktuary recently you may not realize that we offer big cookies and even bigger brownies. Come on in and satisfy that sweet tooth! You’ll thank yourself later.

Speaking of menu additions, an informed source (me) as told me that it’s likely soft pretzels and/or pierogies will soon be available at 325 Oliver Avenue.
